Vacancy

As Assistant Groups, Conference & Events Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal Station you are responsible for supporting the Manager in coordinating the team. Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for organizing events in the hotel, in particular hotel room stays for groups, meetings, conferences, drinks and dinners. You handle new customer requests yourself and process these bookings from A to Z. You make the planning and scenarios and ensure that these are sent to the operational teams. You also support your colleagues in the team when invoicing and planning events and drawing up contracts. In addition, you support the Manager of the team by making rosters and checking the scenarios, prices offered and system input.

You will also be included in the revenue management aspect, where you are jointly responsible for the pricing and strategy of groups. You do this by discussing the developments on a daily basis together with all Managers of the commercial team. Based on this information, commercial choices are made and a strategy is determined. You work in the Groups, Conference & Events team, which is part of the commercial department of the hotel. Currently there are five Executives, a Groups, Conference & Events Manager and some Trainees in the team.

If you enjoy organizing successful events in both practical and commercial terms, and you see a challenge in working with different parties, then this is the job for you.

Working week

One working day you take up a new request from a customer and you can present good results in the strategy meeting. As well as giving tours to potential customers.

The other working day you are mainly busy with administrative tasks. These may not always be the most exciting tasks, but it is very important that this is done properly.

Firsthand experience

A double booking has been made by mistake in one of the rooms. What do you do?

Since you keep track of the system input, you immediately notice a double booking. You interact with the Executives who have placed the bookings in the system and ask for the details of the booking. Sometimes a booking has not yet been confirmed or it is possible to move rooms. If this is not the case, place the two bookings side by side and apply the 'first come first serve' principle. It is often still possible to move the other booking to one of the other hotels.

Growth

Various training courses are offered by the hotel. This can vary from a social hygiene training, to a language course or a first aid course. Whatever may pique your interest, may just very well be in the books for you.
