As the Head of Documentation at EuroSort, you are ultimately responsible for the delivery of documentation for projects concerning customer-sorting installations. This includes operating and maintenance manuals for installations, test documentation (iSAT/SAT) based on functional and technical specifications, performance test documentation and training documents. You structure, design, write and maintain this documentation and ensure that documents are delivered on time. In doing so, you manage the Technical Writers in your team by distributing projects and assessing the work delivered.

An important task as Head of Documentation is setting up the department and further developing the documentation structure and chain. You will draw up a strategy for this and translate this into processes that fit in well with the rest of the organisation. For newly developed products, you also ensure that a clear process plan is drawn up so that the required documents are in place when the product is launched. In this respect, you maintain close contact with colleagues from various departments, such as Engineers, Project Managers and colleagues from the Sales department.

You manage the Documentation department, which consists of Junior and Senior Technical Writers. You report to the Projects Manager.

If you enjoy setting up and improving processes and find it challenging to involve colleagues from many different departments in the process, then this is a job for you.

On an enjoyable working day, you have productive internal and external consultations. In addition, a process has been improved, allowing you to work more efficiently from now on.

On a less enjoyable working day, you cannot find the specifications you need and have to chase colleagues a lot to get this information in time.

Firsthand experience

You want to develop a Performance Test document showing that the installations delivered meet the required performance. How do you proceed?

Before working out a plan like this, you consult with customers and internal departments on exactly where the need lies and what is possible. You then organise internal workshops to agree together on test methodologies to come up with a measurable tool. You do this for the various criteria that a delivered installation must meet. You develop a test platform together and think about how tests will be set up and how they will be registered. Eventually, you will arrive at a methodology that can be applied to all installations and produce the required documents. Finally, you ensure that this document is included in the document chain and that the processes are set up accordingly.

In this way I gained some nice experiences and now I supervise the installations.

Wiebe de Jong - Manager TECH

Why did you decide to work for this company?
I started as an intern (Engineer) when the company only had a few employees (almost nineteen years ago). The type of company has always given me opportunities to develop and grow in the organization. It has never been boring as the company and product continues to evolve. The company is always open to new ideas.

What did you study?
Mechanical engineering.

Why did you decide to work for this company?
With a predilection for technology, I have always been looking for a working environment in which I have to deal with multiple techniques. At EuroSort, various systems come together in the control of the sorting installations. From controlling various sensors, actuators, motors and servo drives, to communication between different systems, such as servers, HMI and cameras.

In my spare time I enjoy doing water sports or hiking.

Marco Vonk - Purchaser

Why did you decide to work for this company?
I started in 2011 as an Engineer at EuroSort. In addition, I did project-related purchases. Due to the dynamic growth of EuroSort, I have gradually started to concentrate and professionalize myself more in the field of purchasing. Partly because the organization feels great, from which we get satisfaction together, this is a huge stimulus to develop myself further and to keep the enthusiasm high. This is an advantage of EuroSort for me!
