Managing Director

Vacancy

As a Kitchen Host at Le Pain Quotidien, it is your responsibility that guests are served high quality food. You prepare tartines, salads, breakfast dishes, sandwiches and quiches and make sure that these dishes meet the agreed guidelines.

At the beginning of your shift, you'll be doing preparatory work, such as cutting vegetables and making sandwiches. Then - as soon as the orders come in - you only have to clean up the plates before you give them to the waiters. In between, you are responsible for the dishes, which are delivered from the work floor in sorted bins. You rotate washing up and preparing food with colleagues, so that your work is varied. You also take care of polishing cutlery. At the end of the day, you clean the kitchen, but during the day you also make sure your workplace stays tidy. Twice a week, you order products and ingredients, so there is always enough in stock.

In this job, you have varied working hours and you will be scheduled between 07.00 and 19.00 hours. When you start at 07.00 o'clock you are responsible for starting up the kitchen and when you have a closing shift you make sure, together with your colleagues, that everything is left clean and tidy for the colleagues the next day.

If you are interested in cooking and food, you enjoy working hard with a team, and you don't mind being on your feet for a long time, then this is a job for you.

Firsthand experience

You want to make a tartine with farm cheese, but you ran out of this ingredient in the drawer. What do you do?

You check with your colleagues from the kitchen and see if there is still a piece of cheese somewhere. It is indeed there, so a colleague helps you by quickly cutting the cheese while you finish the rest of the tartine on the plate. The dishwasher stops for a moment because the colleague is helping you with the cheese slicing, Then you can help them again later. Teamwork is therefore extremely important in the kitchen.
