Vacancy
As a General Ledger Accountant at Mizuho, you are responsible for all accounting and general ledger-related matters, including the overall data quality of the financial administration and the bank's general ledger. Your focus will encompass a variety of accounting and administrative duties without losing sight of the broader financial picture. You have a keen eye for enhancing operational processes and dare to make suggestions.
Key responsibilities in this role include the preparation of periodical reconciliations of the general ledger, the VAT and other tax related returns, the recording of operational expenses and budget reporting. Your involvement extends to financial operations such as processing invoices and payments, assistance in the yearly budget cycle and maintenance of the general ledger application (Afas). Furthermore, your role involves aiding in departmental projects and audit assistance, ensuring the smooth functioning of and the improvement within the Finance department.
You will be part of the Finance department, which is split into two teams: Accounting and Reporting. In this role, you will be working in the Accounting team, which consists of about four colleagues and a Team Lead. You'll also have opportunities to collaborate with departments within the bank, including HR and IT. Your role aligns more with the operational side of accounting, blending accuracy with efficiency to create a valuable impact on Mizuho's financial stability.
If you enjoy administrative tasks and problem-solving and don't mind pursuing others for declarations and receipts, then this is a job for you.
Working week
On an enjoyable day, you experience a mix of team meetings and independent work, wherein you dive into complex reconciliations.
On a less enjoyable day, you find yourself immersed in the more mundane, daily administrative routine work. For example, approving budget applications, and handling general and expense (g&e) requests.
