Vacancy

As a Mechatronics Engineer at Blok System Supply, you are responsible for realizing the production of a wide range of mechatronic products. You act as the link between the theoretical design and the final assembly, with a focus on optimizing the electrical control systems and wiring. You review incoming drawings against requirements and implement improvements to make the assembly process faster and more efficient.

In addition to design work, you are regularly present on the shop floor to build prototypes and support pilot production runs. You translate customer requirements into technically feasible solutions and ensure in practice that components are easily accessible for assembly technicians. You assist technicians with technical questions and ensure accurate documentation of bills of materials and production files.

You will be part of the Engineering department, working alongside two other Engineers and a Lead Engineer, supported by two external specialists for specific projects. For each new project, you are assigned to a project team, where you collaborate closely with colleagues from Procurement, Work Preparation, and possibly another Engineer. Regular progress meetings are held to monitor deadlines and discuss any issues or special considerations.

If you are energized by identifying technical bottlenecks, enjoy the challenge of resolving inconsistencies in electrical schematics, and can communicate about this tactfully with customers, then this is the job for you.

Working week

Mechatronics Engineer

On a good working day, you have a lot of variety between developing technical schematics and interacting with the client and the assembly department. It is satisfying to turn a theoretical design into a functioning real-world solution by implementing smart optimizations.

On a less enjoyable workday, you spend a lot of time behind your screen working out complex drawings under a tight deadline. There is less opportunity for hands-on work in the assembly hall or for consulting with colleagues.

Firsthand experience

A client submits a design in which the components in the tight enclosure cause interference and the wiring is inaccessible for technicians. How do you handle this?

You start with a thorough analysis of the original electrical schematic to understand why the components have been positioned in this way. Next, you go to the assembly floor to determine on site where technicians are encountering difficulties with their tools.

You investigate whether using modular connectors instead of a fixed cable box could improve accessibility, and whether components can be repositioned to avoid interference. In consultation with the Quality Manager and the assembly department, you design an optimized layout of the enclosure.

Growth

Why did you decide to work for this company?
Previously, I worked at Boon Edam, where I collaborated with a few people from Blok System Supply. However, Blok is much closer to my home address and the work had a lot of overlap. I have now been working here for over 19 years and I still enjoy it every day. For the past few years, I have been managing my own production cell.

Why did you decide to work for this company?
What appeals to me most is that you really see the whole picture here. Everything comes together, from the initial idea and engineering to prototyping and production. That suits me, because I find it important not only to design, but also to see how something is actually built. It is precisely that combination that makes us strong.
