Vacancy

As a Technical Service Employee at Van der Kleij, you are responsible for maintaining and repairing the machinery. You work with various types of machines and ensure they keep running smoothly. You do this by troubleshooting malfunctions, performing maintenance, and replacing broken parts. You work with technology in the areas of electrical systems, mechanics, pneumatics (compressed air), and occasionally steam. You often work independently, but you also consult with colleagues when needed. Since production continues at all times, you must be able to respond quickly when a problem arises.

You also handle other tasks, such as minor repairs around the building or cleaning machines. You make sure everything stays safe and orderly. At the beginning of the day, you start up the machines, and at the end of the day, you shut everything down. Together with the team, you assess what needs to be done. Some tasks are planned in advance, while others come up unexpectedly. When you're just starting, you begin with simpler tasks. As you gain experience, you’ll take on larger and more complex jobs.

You’ll join a team that works well together and in which everyone supports each other. Everyone handles a variety of tasks. There’s a lot to learn from your colleagues, and there’s room for growth. Every day is different, as the work is varied. What stays the same is that you make sure the work keeps going.

If you enjoy working with technology, helping colleagues out of tight spots, and find it challenging to quickly and cleverly solve technical problems in a busy production environment, then this is the job for you.

On a less enjoyable workday, you face multiple breakdowns at the same time and have to work hard to fix everything on time. You stay busy all day and have less time for other tasks.

Firsthand experience

During a busy production day, you hear a strange noise coming from a machine. Upon inspection, you discover that a bearing is broken. What do you do?

It is important to act quickly and thoughtfully. If the bearing is truly broken and the machine needs to stop immediately, you promptly consult with your colleagues and safely shut down the machine. You help the Operators working on that machine by temporarily assigning them to another workstation. Together with a colleague, you gather the right tools and replace the damaged bearing as quickly as possible. If the defect can hold for a while, you schedule the repair for a quieter moment. This way, you keep production running and prevent unnecessary downtime.

Growth

The growth path at Wasserij Van der Kleij is not predetermined. You’re given the freedom to develop in a direction that suits you, based on your ambitions and the organization’s goals. Training opportunities are available, tailored to your personal learning needs. For example, starting as an operator, you can grow into a junior technician, technician, and eventually team leader of the Technical Department. As a technician, you can also progress to a team leader role. Together, we’ll explore which path best matches your talents and interests.
