Vacancy

As a Risk Systems and Data Manager at Mizuho, you are responsible for implementing changes/upgrades and performing general maintenance of the risk systems and Excel-models. You will ensure the accuracy and correctness of the risk metrics and actively participate in the analysis, coordination, and testing of the Wolters Kluwer OneSumX Solutions (RiskPro and potentially also RegPro in the future) while providing ETL support. Furthermore, your role includes evaluating the impact of new developments/changes/system upgrades on OneSumX and its data model and contributing to the functional design of the application.

You will be accountable for the maintenance/enhancement of other Excel-based tools, such as the Risk Reporting Tool (RRT). A key part of your role involves driving processes within the bank, leading technical discussions with WKFS, and liaising with relevant stakeholders including WKFS, IT&DM, Data Quality Committee, among others. You will serve as the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding OneSumX-related matters (RiskPro: IRRBB model, ECL model, CVA model) and will be responsible for creating and maintaining relevant test cases to ensure the updated models meet the expected acceptance criteria.

You will be joining the Risk Management Department (RMD), a close-knit team currently composed of 6 FTE and 1 Department Head. The RMD is accountable for Mizuho's Risk Management and supports various regional/local strategic risk discussions with MBE's shareholder. The department also supports several committees and provides active support and advice to the Management Board and Supervisory Board on various risk subjects. The department will also need your expertise to drive and support the ESG policy discussions and governance of MBE.

If you enjoy implementing system changes and upgrades, ensuring the accuracy of risk metrics, and find it challenging to liaise with various stakeholders to drive processes within a bank, then this is the job for you.

Firsthand experience

There are some issues with the risk systems when running the figures in the production environment, as the results do not seem to align with business expectations. What do you do?

As a Risk Systems and Data Manager, you will leverage your problem-solving skills to address system issues. When faced with discrepancies in the production environment, your first step would be to communicate with the Risk Manager to gain clarity on the specific issues (e.g., missing data, model issues). Based on this feedback, you could perform a parallel run in the test environment and thoroughly check for data completeness, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business expectations. Your role is pivotal in maintaining the reliability and efficacy of Mizuho's risk systems.
