Vacancy

As a Risk Analytics & AI Intern at Mizuho you will gain hands-on experience in financial risk reporting, data analysis, and regulatory compliance within a dynamic banking environment. You will participate in an AI-based tooling implementation to build reconciliation checks for financial risk reports. You will use the reconciliation tool to challenge the completeness and accuracy of existing reports by identifying anomalies across various data sources using AI/ML. You will then propose radical reconciliation checks to ensure data integrity using AI.

In addition, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the Risk environment by assisting in documenting the Risk Reporting landscape at Mizuho. You will document the team’s models, which will help the team streamline documentation and will help you get a complete understanding of the banking model landscape.

You will be working in the Risk Analytics & Reporting team, which is part of the Risk Management department of Mizuho Europe. The team consists of two employees and a Lead, who will be your supervisor. You will be working together closely with your team members, as well as with other employees within the Risk Management department.

If you enjoy working with AI/ML, are detail-oriented and find it a challenge to be involved in many differnet tasks, then this is an internship for you.

Firsthand experience

You encounter a situation where the reconciliation tool flags frequent anomalies in market risk reports, but Risk Managers are hesitant to trust the tool’s output. What do you do?

In this situation, you should schedule a review session with the Risk Managers and Risk System Engineers to walk through a sample of flagged anomalies. You prepare visualizations and explanations to illustrate how the tool identifies inconsistencies and why these may signal real data quality issues. In these sessions, stakeholders provide valuable context about the reports and share feedback on the tool’s usability and accuracy.
