Working week

Jeroen van Gemert

On nice days, I have reserved a lot of time for building. Then, I work towards an end product, which gives me a great sense of satisfaction.

Less pleasant days occur when I have a schedule full of meetings. These meetings are part of the job, but sometimes, it feels like they cause me to lose time, because I produce less as a result.

Firsthand experience

Through Slack, a customer reports that they would like to have more insight into the metrics of the AppFactory environment. You are currently the point of contact for customers. What to do?

As a point of contact, you assess whether it involves an incident or a functional customer requirement. You are supposed to consider this quickly. The customer’s request is recorded as an intake, and the functional wish is written on the whiteboard in the office. You describe what the requirement entails as well as anything that should be built to this end. During the Refinement meeting on Thursday, the team discusses the best solution for this requirement. The requirement is translated into a (User) Story with matching conditions in Jira.

Subsequently, the Story is included in the Sprint Planning. During the new Sprint, a demo is built for the customer. In the Sprint Review, a demo is presented, and the customer can assess whether the built functionality meets the conditions.
